personality Sarpedon is generally a nice fellow, but he will probably dip your face in acid if he thinks such an act would yield a scientific breakthrough. DON'T WORRY, THOUGH, HE DOESN'T THINK IT WILL. Sarpedon’s exceptionally flaky, and although he is intelligent, he’s a bit lacking in common sense. A shiftless sort of dreamer, he’ll zone in and out of conversations (or at least appear to) and will often need to be re-introduced to people several times before he can remember who they are. If he doesn’t like somebody’s name (say, if their name is Ann or Joe), he will christen them with a new name, and expect them to answer to it. He’s not terribly charismatic, and anybody who is around him generally becomes uncharismatic by proxy. The most notable aspect of Sarpedon's personality is his easygoing approach to life, which makes him appear rather lazy (although he isn't lazy; he just does things at his own pace). Most things don’t bother him that much, and he’ll shrug off or forget a lot of negative experiences rather quickly. This isn’t because he’s a particularly Zen person, so much as he apparently has the emotional memory of a goldfish coupled with the academic memory of an elephant. Despite this, Sarpedon has been known to hold a grudge from time to time. When he has a grudge, he’ll become loudly spiteful, and will do stupid things like threaten to punch them in the face (which he’d never actually do). Oftentimes, he’s friendly and sociable, because he feels no need to act otherwise. If he dislikes a person, he usually lets them know the moment he comes to that decision. Because he’s very expressive, he doesn’t even bother to try to hide what he’s feeling, and will usually state his mind if he feels the need to. Of course, higher-ups are generally exempt from this treatment. After all, Sarpedon may be a bit of an idiot, but he’s certainly not suicidal. When it comes to his friends, Sarpedon CAN be loyal; however, most do not receive this treatment from him. Typically, he doesn’t establish very close ties with others, and if he feels that a friendship is no longer worth maintaining for whatever reason, he will drop it fairly easily and move on with life. Unfortunately, because he moves on from a dropped friendship so quickly, he sometimes forgets to explain why he doesn’t want to be friends anymore, thus leaving behind a very confused person. Because of this (as well as some previously stated aspects of his personality), Sarpedon is generally a failure in romantic pursuits. This doesn’t get him down, of course, and he flirts quite openly when he’s in the right mood. While Sarpedon is very intelligent, he has an impulsiveness that drives him to stupidly sacrifice bodily safety in the name of science. He isn’t all that big on theorization, so much as recklessly throwing himself into a project and seeing what happens. This is usually tempered by his more book-smart lab partners, who oftentimes have to take the lead on projects, so that they can be planned out in advance. This sort of behavior is probably a result of his upbringing, as his parents always encouraged their children to roam free and try new things, despite the stern disapproval of just about everybody they knew. Sarpedon is easily swayed by his desire for knowledge. He enjoys going against the grain and exploring things that may be taboo or forbidden. And, more than anything, he thrives on experimentation. Overall, he's a fairly neutral figure; neither benevolent nor malicious. Science is his primary love, and he'll eagerly pursue it by any means necessary.
other notes » Enjoys Science above all else. » Wants to raise the dead. Not for any evil reason. He just thinks they'd provide a cheap source of labor. » Hates monosyllabic or plain names.
